The Jenks community is gearing up for the 16th annual Art on Main festival taking place Oct. 13, celebrating the best in art, wine and music on Main Street Jenks.

One of the festival’s vendors, Roger Twilley, will showcase his photography work at the award-winning festival.

Twilley stumbled upon photography while testing out different styles of watercolor painting, as he would produce watercolor pieces based on photos he captured of wildlife and nature.

From his time as a beginner using a film camera with basic settings to now mastering the art of digital photography, Twilley says his work has majorly changed over time.

“With film, you had to pay for your mistakes,” Twilley said. “I now have more room for error and to experiment with digital photography.”

Twilley’s talent behind the lens awarded him a guided photography tour trip to Lake Clark National Park and Reserve in Port Alsworth, Alaska. While there, he captured an image of a mother grizzly bear, winning him the grand prize in the 2017 National Park Trips Photo Contest. Read the full story here.

Twilley encourages aspiring photographers to relax, have fun and carefully focus on each photo’s subject.

“Whether you’re photographing people or animals, always be sure to focus on the eye,” Twilley said. “You’ll get the best results every time.”
