Planning for the future requires input from all interested parties and that’s exactly what we need from Jenks businesses.
The City of Jenks is undertaking an important endeavor – creation of a new comprehensive plan. The process and plan have been named Horizon Jenks.
For those who aren’t familiar, a comprehensive plan is, according to the Horizon Jenks website, “a blueprint for the future. It is a community vision that is intended to guide the city in its decision making for the next 20 years. The comprehensive plan will result in a set of policies that direct future growth and development for the City of Jenks. Additionally, the creation of a plan can lead to potential strategies that help effectively guide city leaders in making substantive and thoughtful decisions for the community.”
That’s a long definition. In short, a comprehensive plan tells us – citizens, businesses, developers, elected officials – what we expect our community to be and look like.
This plan will address land use and development, commercial areas, transportation, parks and open spaces, community facilities and more.
As this process moves forward, it’s important that all of us provide feedback for the plan. We need our neighbors and pastors and business owners to all weigh in and share your vision for Jenks’ future.
So, here’s what you can do. Visit horizonjenks.com and click around. There are notes from past focus groups and community meetings, information about the plan, and, most importantly, a Get Involved link.
In the Get Involved section, there are surveys for residents and business owners. Take the appropriate survey and share your thoughts.
Then, click the map.social feature where you can literally map your Jenks.
The process is set to wrap up in summer 2020 and it’s important that all voices are heard.
Please take the time to share your thoughts and your vision.
