Blood drive at FlyingTee
March 14, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Oklahoma Blood Institute is teaming up with Tulsa Oilers Hockey and FlyingTee to save lives during Spring Break.
Join Tulsa Oilers Hockey and FlyingTee at a blood drive with Oklahoma Blood Institute from 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 14, at FyingTee in Jenks (3rd Floor). Healthy adults*, age 16 and older, can give blood.
Donors will receive a free, vintage-style 40th anniversary “Hero” t-shirt in their choice of color: blue, purple or green. All donors will also receive two Oilers tickets for the March 31st game,** half an hour of free golf at FlyingTee, and entry into a drawing for the Grand Prize: an Oilers party deck for ten and a COBRA golf club courtesy of FlyingTee.
Tulsa Oilers Ice Girls and mascot, Sledge, will also make special appearances at Tuesday’s blood drive.
Spring Break and the weeks following it present significant challenges to the blood supply for local hospitals.
“During travel, people get out of their normal routines of giving,” said John Armitage, M.D., President and CEO of Oklahoma Blood Institute. “But accidents happen, and those battling cancer or other life-threatening conditions do not get a week off from their need for blood. We urge all healthy adults to donate blood before they leave town or get busy with Spring Break activities.”
Oklahoma Blood Institute relies solely on donations from more than 1,000 volunteer donors each dayto meet the needs of patients statewide. One blood donation can save as many as three lives, and takes only about an hour.
