Monthly Luncheon: Brand your business at no cost
July 19, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
With advertising costs escalating, how can entrepreneurs gain exposure for their businesses or nonprofit organizations without breaking the bank? Traditional media—television, radio, newspaper and magazine—ads can gobble up a budget in a heartbeat. How can a struggling or start-up business gain exposure in an affordable way nowadays? Assistant Professor of Communications & Media Chris Putman will share an approach that business owners can use to establish a solid brand and utilize free promotional techniques to raise awareness with their target audience in a “How to Brand & Promote Your Business at No Cost” presentation.
Putman has acquired several degrees, state certifications and personal experience in business ownership that helps her to speak to the challenges in the marketplace. From that experience, she will be speaking at the Jenks Chamber of Commerce luncheon at The Hive located at 115 South First Street in Jenks, on Wednesday, July 19, from 12 p.m. -1 p.m.
Branding is more than just a buzz word, and Putman will share with business owners how they can set their product, service, cause or organization apart from the rest and then promote it using methods that are easy on the budget; in fact, it’s free.
“I enjoy sharing what I know to see a business or organization prosper and thrive,” Putman said. “If I can provide information that a businessman or woman can walk away with and then apply to their daily operations, then I’m all about that.”
Putman has for two decades taught branding, promotions, marketing, graphic design, public relations, advertising, social media, publications and business at Oklahoma State University-Tulsa, Northeastern State University and Oral Roberts University. She has received Disney training on their branding strategy, been on their day-long underground, behind-the-scene training tour and has also attended the Disney customer service workshop to better grasp their practices. That experience, coupled with being a business owner herself, has helped her glean some creative tips on how businesses can make a memorable impact on their target audience with low or no-cost ideas.
“I can’t help someone become a marketing expert in a lunch hour, but I can certainly start the branding thought process and encourage a creative promotional conversation,” Putman said. “I’m thrilled to share the tools I have in my arsenal, and if I can help the economy of a business, I walk away fulfilled.”
The cost to attend is $15 for Chamber members, $20 for non-members and non-RSVP’d guests.
RSVP to nick.demoss(at)jenkschamber.com by July 17 to attend.
