Got Wood Axe Throwing recently received the Jenks Chamber of Commerce’s New Business of the Year award, presented at the 2020 Inaugural Banquet Jan. 16. The New Business of the Year award recognizes a new business, open no more than three years, that has shown significant growth and made outstanding contributions to the local economy and community during the previous year. 

Got Wood Axe Throwing brings a unique – and sharp – form of entertainment to the city of Jenks. Opened in 2017, Got Wood provides a relaxed and fun environment for those who have never held an axe before, to those most dedicated to the sport through competition.  

Owner Jason Kearney, alongside his business partner Dr. Dan Langley, saw a great opportunity to bring axe throwing to the Jenks area. 

“I operated a previous business in Jenks called Beard and Blade,” Kearney said. “I fell in love with Jenks. When the axe throwing opportunity came up, it was a natural fit.”  

Indoor axe throwing is safe and fun, with professional instructors available to get customers hitting targets in no time. An expansive selection of local beer, among other refreshments are available to participants.  

Got Wood takes reservations in advance, making them a great activity for a date night, corporate outing, team building exercise, birthday or a bachelor or bachelorette party. 

Kearney said newcomers should expect a fun experience. 

“I love meeting new people and watching their faces as they learn an exciting new skill in the sport of axe throwing!” he added.  

Since opening in 2017, Got Wood Axe Throwing has brought a new energy to downtown Jenks, attracting people from all over to our community to experience the uniqueness of their business. 

With 34% growth since 2018, they’ve had two World Qualified Axe Throwers from their business and are members of the World Axe Throwing League. 

Their community support has included working with Folds of Honor, the Demand Project, the Tulsa SPCA and more.
